No excitement here. Just drove home. Just had to pay the taxes on our over duty free items and drove on to our apartment. Home feels good.
I've unpacked all my stuff now. I can't believe how much I bought. Nearly $800 in items, plus the taxes that we had to pay at the border. Oh well my brother spent way more.
And so ends my summer vacation of 2010. Although there is still a month and half of summer, who knows what will happen.

Summer Vacation 2010 - Day 3
Okay I'm doing this a day late but yesterday was a VERY long day. We got up at our hotel and visited the whirlpool/sauna which was locked so we had to go to the front desk to get them to open it. Then there were no towels in the area so I had to send my brother back to the front desk to get towels. The hot tub was nice but the sauna was not hot at all. Then we picked up my brother's friend at his hotel and drove to IKEA.
I hate IKEA. I like almost nothing in the entire store. It's just not my style of furniture. Although we did bring home a new TV stand. We were also going to get a new living room chair but it wasn't going to fit in the car so we had to leave it. My brother also wanted a giant kitchen table which expanded to become even more giant. And while we have a huge kitchen we rarely use the kitchen table and really we'd have to walk around it all the time, and well I'm lazy.
After IKEA we went to the Mall of America. My brother's friend took my brother's car to do some other errands in the city after lunch so my brother and I started to walk our way around the mall. Somewhere on the third floor we got convinced to do a survey. We got separated and did taste tests. I ate pasta and he got breakfast sausages. And then we got paid a couple bucks each for participating.
After that we did some more shopping and my brother's friend (let's call him Joey) caught up to us. And we headed back to Fargo. Part way back we had to stop for gas so we pulled off the interstate into a small town (with 2 gas stations) but both of them were closed. So back to the interstate and we found a larger centre with gas stations that were still open. By the time we drove back to Fargo it was around 9:30 and most of the eateries were closed.
Also when we stopped to pick up Joey's car at the Holiday Inn (where my brother and i had stayed the first night) I went in to see if I could pick up the sweatshirt I had left there by accident. I couldn't because housekeeping was gone for the day and all the lost and found articles are kept in housekeeping. While I was doing this the boys were switching Joey's purchases to his car and they were approached by a man who wanted a ride to his house in Fargo. We weren't quite sure what to do but Joey agreed to take him to his place after we had booked rooms for the night.
Then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for supper (I love BWW). Then the boys started drinking so we hung out and talked and stuff until about 1:45am when I decided we should go to bed.

Summer Vacation 2010 - Day Two
We did a lot of shopping today, starting with Scheel's.
I was very disappointed to find of the time listed as the opening time online did not match the open time at the store. But we tossed in a breakfast at IHOP and then went back. I could have spent more time there but I wanted to get back on schedule.
Then we went to Men's Warehouse to get new work clothes for my brother. I have an eye for choosing ties so that's why I get to come along. I also get to provide a little but of the women's perspective. He spent a lot of money but that was really his main stop in Fargo and now that that's done he can get ready for IKEA.
After that we went to West Acres Mall, which is Fargo's main shopping centre. We skipped Macy's this time but did JC Penny, where I found some tops and a pair of shorts. And then I went to Layne Bryant. Found a few more tops. My brother also bought this board game that's sort of like chess called the Viking Game. We'll look at it more when we get home but we do love games and this one is a little out of the ordinary so it's probably going to be something no one has ever played before. We met up with my brother's friends for lunch and then stopped at Hot Topic in the mall (for them not for me, I hate Hot Topic), before heading out of the road to Minnesota.
The whole drive down towards Minneapolis I had one eye on the clock just to see if we were going to have time to stop in Albertville. We did make the time for it despite the slow zones for traffic and a couple of rest/fueling stops. I can't believe how cheap gas is down here. I mean I know it's cheap but it still gets me. We did Albertvillle a little differently than usual this time though, Most of the time we do the shoe stores first and then drive over to the "U" and walk from one end to the other and then back. This time we grabbed a map. Decided which stores we specifically wanted to go to the just drove the "U" to make sure we didn't miss anything. We still ended up going back to Guess though because my brother wanted a new belt.
Then it was off to Minneapolis. We got in around 7, checked in, cleaned up changed and went for supper at Outback Steak House. I guess the one here is probably the closest one to us now, since the one in Fargo closed. After supper I just came back to the room and messed on the internet and started this post before going to sleep at about 10, while the boys went out to the bar. I was sleeping when my brother came back last night so I don't know how the bar was. But I'll find out in about 4 hours when he wakes up.
Yeah today is a sleep in day, but it's gonna be a long day. IKEA around 1oam then the Mall of America for lunch and 4 scheduled hours at the Mall before driving all the way back to Fargo (and possibly further) for the night. And then home again, home again tomorrow. I can't believe the adventure is almost over.

Summer Vacation 2010 - Day 1
Well we made it to Fargo. It was about 9 when we got in tonight. We met up with a friend of my brother's who will be traveling with us to Minneapolis tomorrow.
We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for supper, why we don't have these in Canada I have no idea because they are amazing. Sure it's just a sports bar/wing place but it's yummy. I really ought to mention here that I'm not really into fancy upscale places. Give me a franchise where I know the food is decent and I'm good. I'm going to try to convince the boys to go to a Steakhouse tomorrow night, we'll see how that goes.
The plan for tomorrow is to go to Scheel's (yay! I love Scheel's), then Men's Warehouse get my brother some new work clothes and then mall it up a little before heading to Minnesota. I'm not sure what will happen after that. It'll be kind of a play it by ear situation. What time will we be done our shopping here, and what time can we get going. Also do we stop at the outlets at Albertville, I'm currently undecided as to whether we should.

Agribition Day 4
Today was a short day for me. I got to sleep in. Mom and Dad went to the grounds for tie-ins and then came back for me. Then we did a little shopping and went back.
Today was the last day of the show so we'll be coming home tomorrow. The big thing today was the Beef Supreme championship. All of the breed winners show against each other along with the winners of each breed and a bunch of other shows. I couldn't get a real great picture but this is a taste of how big this whole thing is.
So anyway that was my excitement for the day. Well that and taking down the stalls which means lots of trips back and forth to the truck. Like I said tomorrow we head home.
Agribition Day 3
I'm writing this a day late because yesterday was a long day. By the time I got back to the hotel all I wanted to do was take a hot bath and go to bed.
So yesterday was our sale. I think it went fairly well. We had the high selling animal in the sale which was kind of nice. To me it sort of validates the choices that mom and dad have been making in their breeding program.
At some point during the day Mom and I wandered around a bit. All I could think about was how much pain there was in my feet. So when we got to the arena I insisted that we stop and watch a little bit. They were demonstrating Roman Riding, which is where you stand up on the back of two horses and ride around. It looked pretty dangerous to me, but then anything with horses usually is as far as I'm concerned.

Agribition Day Two
Yesterday I mentioned that today is show day. For anyone who is just stumbling to this blog and doesn't know me, my parents have registered cattle that they sometimes show. It's kind of like a dog show but for cows. So anyway today was the show for our breed. I should mention that the show isn't usually on day two and today is only day two for me, Dad has been here since Saturday.
So how did we do? Well let's just say it was a mixed bag. Some of our animals did well and some didn't do quite so well. There are reasons for this that I won't bother getting into since no one wants to hear me blab on and on about how this cow is better than some others. But we had two big wins today. One of our heifer calves won Reserve Champion heifer calf. The other thing we won that we're quite proud of is Get of Sire, which means we had 3 animals out of the same sire (father) in the ring and the judge thought our animals were better than the others.
So that was day two. Tomorrow is the sale where we're hoping to get big bucks for our animals.
